In less than 16 days, I will be embarking on an Ultra Bikepacking Adventure Race/Ride/Challenge: the HuRaCaN 300 (you can read more here @ Bikepacking.com). It’s called the HuRaCaN 300 but the mileage will be at least 350 traveled on a bike – off-road. Ultra meaning over 100 miles traveled. Bikepacking meaning that we carry everything we need on our person and bike. We are not permitted any outside assistance or we become disqualified. Adventure – well that means anything can and will happen since “Murphy’s Law” was formulated.
No, I am NOT crazy…there are others who are doing this with me (the official Grand Depart happened at the beginning of February and most survived). I love doing this genre of cycling for a few reasons. One, it gets me on my bike. I have always loved riding my bike ever since I put my feet on the pedals for the first time. Two, it gets me off the roads. Due to the modern society, people are texting and driving distracted – not good for a cyclist. Third, I meet new people and see new places that are not the same when you are on or in a motorized vehicle. Finally, it pushes me out of my comfort zone and forces me to be challenged.
I am embarking on this journey with my fellow friends Robert & Scott – aka The Musketeers. Stayed tuned and if you want to watch us traverse this challenge (aka – be a “Dot Watcher”), I will post the link to do so. In the meantime, I hope you are Healthy, Well, and Active. Until our paths cross again…
