Starting this Saturday, March 9th, at 6;45am, I, Sasha, will be embarking with 4 others on the HuRaCaN 300. This 350 mile plus Ultra Bikepacking Race/Ride (yes we know it says 300 – Karlos, the race creator, has a sense of humor) will be in the much warmer Sunshine State as compared to awful wet and cold weather we have had here in Virginia. Ps, cold and wet weather is not conducive for long training rides outside in case you were curious.
This race/ride is an ITT – an Individual Time Trial. Meaning we are NOT allowed any outside assistance except from fellow racers/riders and what is commercially available to everyone and anyone. We are self-sustained cyclist carrying anything and everything we need to complete the course under our own power and, at times, our own ingenuity. Yes, it makes it very interesting on what to bring, what not to bring, and pre-planning strategic stops & refueling.
Should you like to follow our progress (hopefully we will making the journey in good time) and become a “DOT watcher”, you can follow “Us” by clicking Overall HuRaCaN or follow just Sasha by clicking Sasha’s HuRaCaN. We have plans to try to cover 139 miles the first day…and take it from there. Along the way, we are required to call in to MTBCast.com to verbally document our journey. If you want to have possibly a good laugh, give it a listen: MTBCast.
Also,I will be planning to post pictures daily on my Instagram account of my adventure. So, if you can’t go out and go ultra epic…join me on mine. It will be a fun adventure.
