You ever hear or listen to something that is Mind-Blowing? Ground-breaking enough to change and create a new habit in an instant? It doesn’t happen often…maybe once every few years or even once a decade. Well it happened to me last week. And, it’s on a subject that takes proper planning to create the ideal environment and to initiate correctly, but once everything is in its’ place…it should flow easily. Wanna take a guess? Come on – please do!
If you are afraid to take a guess without more information, here we go with 3 facts via research. 1. Ideally it should take you 10-15 minutes instead of 5 to achieve this first goal. 2. We are the only mammals willingly to delay this. 3. If we do without this, we are more likely to become hungrier! Bonus. If we don’t accomplish this, it will decrease your performance like if your blood alcohol level was 0.05% (legal limit is 0.08%). Bonus Part 2. It has an S & an E in the word. What is your guess? *4868 (please post your guess in the comment section below).
If you guessed SLEEP, you are correct. You deserve a prize! So rather then have you read a bunch of details, I am going to do something different this week. I have posted a link which will take you to Peter Attia M.D.’s podcast. He isn’t your typical Doctor. And this podcast interviews Matthew Walker, Ph.D. about sleep. Dr. Walker is professor of neuroscience at UC Berkeley and expert on sleep. The podcast takes place over three different podcasts, yep – that much info on sleep, but if you are just going to listen to ONE, please listen to Part 2.
Part 1 – Podcast #47: https://peterattiamd.com/matthewwalker1/
Part 2 – Podcast #48: https://peterattiamd.com/matthewwalker2/
Part 3 – Podcast #49: https://peterattiamd.com/matthewwalker3/
Since listening to this podcast, I have learned so much. I have now made sleep a priority in my life. We all should make it a priority. Maybe after you listen, you will?! Here at PEAK Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation, we are big on being healthy and prevention of illness – proper sleep can help on both accounts.
If you listen, a wealth of information on the benefits of sleep will not only reward you but if you share, others around you as well. If you find it educational & beneficial, please pass this on. So…sit back, give it a rest, and give it a listen. A s you listen…Don’t Fall Asleep, it is only permitted afterwards!
Go Adventuring!
