In today’s uncertain times, we, meaning everyone, need to having something strong, capable, and willing to go to battle for you at a moments notice – Our Immune System. But too often we handicap our immune system by either sabotaging it or not supporting & caring for it as it needs. If you ignore it…it may perish as well as you. What can we do to support our immune system and help it flourish? Read & Apply!
I am calling this section: “Don’t Do Stupid!” Dr. Karl Lewitt stated, “The first treatment is to teach the patient to avoid what harms them.” We advise anyone who walks into our clinic & centre, before anything else that can help them, is to take away what they are doing to harm, hurt, and/or hinder them. The list is personal yet can have a profound effect on one’s life. So here are a few items that YOU CAN DO by NOT DOING as reported by Harvard Medical School:
☞ Don’t Smoke
☞ Don’t Be Overweight
☞ Don’t Over-consume Alcohol (moderation is fine)
☞ Don’t Consume a Diet High in Process Foods & Sugars
If you knowingly are doing these items as stated above plus other dangerous activities or habits, you are sabotaging, massively hindering your immune system, and putting yourself at significant risk. It will be a matter of time. And this is not an opinion – there is research.
Dr. Michael Greger published the book “How Not To Die” which he systematically lists the Top 15 causes of premature deaths in America due to incorrect diet and lifestyle. None of it is anecdotal or here-say but with research proving what one should and should not do. It’s worth reading. Ps…the Top 5 are: Heart Disease, Lung Disease, Brain Diseases, Digestive Cancers, and Infections. Infections result in death because Your Immune System CANNOT over-come the attack from a foreign invader.
So what can one DO to strengthen their Immune System? Here is a simple list that you can implement today:
✓ Lifestyle – Get the Proper amount of Sleep – Minimum: You should be able to wake up without an alarm clock
✓ Lifestyle – Exercise Regularly: Minimum of 20-30 minutes per day incorporating a combination of Strength & Cardiovascular
✓ Lifestyle – Minimize Stress: Meditation for 5 minutes per day has been shown to reduce heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety. “5 to Stay Alive”
✓ Lifestyle – Wash Your Hands: Just wash them for 20 seconds with soap.
✓ Diet – Eat Whole Food Plant Diet: Fruits & Vegetables providing a cornucopia of immune boosting vitamins & minerals.
✓ Diet – Drink Water & Healthy Fluids: How do you know if you are hydrated enough? If you are not urinating every 2-3 hours – your fluid intake is inadequate – Drink Up!
Only by arming yourself with knowledge and then applying it correctly, can you truly prepare for the unknown. Having a strong ally with you, your immune system, allows you to go forth into the world with less fear & anxiety but with a sense of joy & excitement. Until we chat again…
