Per Aristotle, Happiness…Depends Upon Ourselves. Is this True? Or No? Give this video a watch please and we can chat about afterwards (Click on the link below the picture). See you shortly…
What was striking to me watching the video, especially now during this pandemic, is how most people are NOT Happy. Maybe it is because we are focusing on the wrong thing(s) just like Shawn stated – and I agree with him. Just like in driving – where you look and keep your focus is where you head and end up, hopefully on the road and not in the ditch. Most people today are focusing on the negative and not the positive. Don’t believe me? Look at the news! What is the tone of majority of stories being reported – Positive or Negative. My very good friend once stated the role of the news is to sell ads and create revenue. The car wreck, burning whatever, the over-the-top fight etc etc etc garners eyeballs thus creating more revenue for the news station and its’ owner. 40 years ago this year, a cable show strictly tailored for news was created. Content that draws and keeps eyeballs are shown everyday – 24/7/365. So if we are focusing on the negative, how can we be healthy?
Per Shawn, “The Absence of Disease is NOT Health!” Re-read that and let that sink in! We convey that to our physical therapy clients all the time. Just because you don’t have an injury or a disease doesn’t mean you are healthy or fit. Here’s an analogy I created to explain it better: “Just because you are not in a valley doesn’t mean you are on the mountain top.”
Nor does being successful equate to being Happy. But if we are Happy or have a positive mindset, we are more efficient and effective. To build Your positive mindset which can lead to Happiness, do the following for 10 minutes (except the exercise portion – that takes a bit longer) for a minimum of 21 days:
✓ Write Down 3 Gratitudes
✓ Journal a Positive Experience You Encountered in the Past 24 Hours
✓ Exercise
✓ Meditation (I do 5 minutes of Focused Breathing)
✓ Random Act of Kindness
To be Happy, it is a choice made by You…a sentiment shared by Aristotle. You have this choice everyday. Choose wisely – Your Health and Happiness hinges upon Your decision. Until we chat again…

Life is short, regrets last.
You should choose happiness always, we all deserve that.
Giving and being kind to others just might change lives and show them what happiness is when they feel like it is lost.
Thank you for this beautiful piece… and reminder.
